Acacia Mining - Kili Climb Challenge 2015

In June 2015, Acacia Mining organized a climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Education in Tanzania. The team of climbers, which included staff, family and friends, was led by CEO, Brad Gordon and CFO, Andrew Wray, raised over $420,000. Every cent raised will be spent on education projects in Tanzania by CanEducate, a charity that provides educational sponsorships to impoverished and at-risk children in developing countries.

To get to Uhuru Peak, at 5,895m, the climbers spent 7 days tackling a variety of climate and terrain, along with physical challenges such as altitude sickness, which no amount of training could prepare them for.

One of the climbers, Teale, said the climb taught them many lessons, and as well, they built friendships along the way, a bond that will last forever.

Rickshaw Travels, one of the sponsors of the climb, would like to congratulate everyone for the very successful climb and we look forward to working with Acacia in their endeavor to raise funds for education for a long time to come.
