Our team at Rickshaw Nairobi visited Baraka Children’s Home in Kayole, an initiative by our team member Purity Wawira. Purity has been visiting this home over the years and thought it would be great to spend a day with the children aged 1 - 18 years, who would otherwise be on the streets.
The children had prepared skits, poem recitals and sang a few songs entertaining our team and got us involved as well. The home is run by Mrs. Margrate Kimaru and her dedicated team, who work very hard to provide the basic necessities to these vulnerable children.
There is no greater feeling than giving back to those who deserve it and seeing them appreciate and be happy with what they received was pure joy for us. It was also an eye opener for many of us as we learnt their way of life and the difficulties they face. This day, each child had a smile on their face and a ray of hope and determination. As one of the little girl told us, she wanted to work hard and become a lawyer and we are sure she will fulfil her dream.
We will definitely be going back to visit the children and the team at Rickshaw salutes Mrs. Margrate and her team. To see how you can help, please visit http://www.barakahome.co.ke/
