GATIMAAN EXPRESS OR BHOPAL SHATABDI

Which of these fast trains should a tourist take when planning a visit to Agra to see the Taj Mahal?  The new Gatimaan Express made its debut run on April 5 from New Delhi to Agra in 100 minutes and is a non-stop journey which leaves Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station at 8:10 am. Not to be outdone is the Bhopal Shatabdi Express which makes one stop on its journey to Agra and it leaves at 6:00 am and its journey from Delhi to Agra is around 15 minutes longer.  Both these trains have chairs and not sleepers.

The new Gatimaan Express offers a few extras for the price it charges, these extras being ushered to your seats by train hostesses, free access to multimedia services and a choice of Indian and continental cuisine.

There has been mixed reaction to the new Gatimaan Express, in that it does not live up to all the hype it advertised so if you’re okay paying the 25% extra fare compared to the Shatabdi and the departure time of 8:10 am suits you better, then the Gatimaan Express will work for you.
