Top 6 attractions in East Africa for the holidays 2021

Do you have any plans for this holiday?

From Kenya's safari attractions and Rwanda's gorilla experience to Tanzania's beautiful beaches, East African countries have a lot to offer visitors. As a result, picking the best attractions to visit can be challenging. To that end, we have carefully selected the below top 5 attractions in East Africa for the holiday season.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya

Olpejeta Conservancy is a private conservancy that has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any of Kenya's national parks. It is also home to the fastest-growing rhino population in Africa. There are southern white rhinos, about 80 black rhinos that are endangered and two northern white rhinos that remain in a special sanctuary.

There are no better places to watch rhinos in Kenya than Ol Pejeta, which was founded in 1988. It also offers other activities such as game drives, mountain biking, lion tracking, cycling, and community visits.

Mafia Island, Tanzania

Mafia Island, which is only 30 miles long and 10 miles wide, is Tanzania's largest island. It is known for its incredible marine life as well as its stunning blue waters.

Whale sharks can be found in Mafia, making it an excellent place to swim with these fascinating creatures. The experience is certainly one of the most memorable on the island.

With boat trips, swimming with whale sharks, snorkelling, scuba diving, watching baby turtle hatchlings, walking tours of neighbouring islands, and long beach walks, Mafia makes for the perfect relaxing holiday attraction.

Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania

Located in northern Tanzania, Serengeti National Park is home to the great migration, one of the wonders of nature. Once you step foot in this land of endless plains, you can see why Serengeti has been named three years straight as Africa’s best national park.

Before you head to Serengeti, be sure to stop at Ngorongoro, where you will find the "big 5" (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino). Experience the majesty of the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest caldera, and the dramatic Olduvai Gorge, a ravine that runs for 14km.

Musanze, Rwanda

Musanze is Rwanda's centre for ecotourism. Some of the best places to visit are the historic Buhanga Eco-Park, which was once a sacred forest where Rwandan kings held initiation ceremonies, as well as Musanze Caves and animals living in the Volcanoes National Park.

Musanze is not complete without experiencing the mountain gorillas.

Murchison Falls, Uganda

Uganda, which is often called the 'Pearl of Africa', has many unique and diverse destinations that make it an ideal holiday destination this season, whether you're looking for nature, culture or wildlife. Murchison Falls located in northwest Uganda is one of the most popular attractions. You will be amazed by massive waters bursting through a narrow gorge before crashing into a roaring cascade.

You may also want to take the time to visit the surrounding protected areas to spot some of Africa's iconic animals such as African lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, and others.

Moyenne Island, Seychelles

Pristine and stunning, Seychelles is a nature reserve listed by UNESCO. Seychelles is an archipelago country located in the Indian Ocean off East Africa.

In addition to the beautiful beaches and a vast underwater plateau that the island is known for, Moyenne Island is one of the biggest attractions on Mahe Island, one of the largest islands in Seychelles.

Discover the island's species of plants like Mango or Palm, Mahogany, and magnificent animals such as gain tortoise. Experience the most stunning natural beauty.
