In a recent ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) Travel Trend Report for 2016, mention is made of Sri Lanka as one of the 12 destinations to watch for as travelers continue to look for experiences that capture their imagination.
With a history that dates back 2000 years, Sri Lanka has a culture that is seeped with heritage that helped mold the country into the place of wonder that it is. This tiny island has 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, all well preserved and proudly displayed.
Sri Lanka can be done on its own or include it in your plans on your way to Asia or drop by when you’re in South India. There is a lot to do in this island; the distances are short so you can pack a lot in a few days. It has something for everyone and all ages, from safaris to white sandy beaches, there are green tea plantations as far as your eyes can see and trekkers can discover the rainforests. We can’t forget diving, rock climbing, deep sea fishing and so much more.
Other destinations mentioned in this report are Abu Dhabi, Canada, China - the Silk Road, France, Hawaii, Iceland, Iran, Napels and Apulia (Italy), Peru, Poland and Queensland (Australia).
