The Kenya Tourism Board has picked up the trophy for World’s Leading Safari Destination award at the Grand Final of the 20th World Travel Awards in Doha, Qatar.

The award comes just a month after the destination’s tourism marketing agency, Kenya Tourism Board was voted Africa’s Leading Tourism Board by WTA during the Africa ceremony held in Nairobi.

Kenya is a quintessential safari destination with over 50 national parks and reserves.

The country plays host to the annual wildebeest migration in the iconic Maasai Mara and is famous for its sweeping plains, abundant wildlife and unique cultures which have attracted visitors from all over the world to experience Kenya.
After a safari adventure, Kenya’s Indian Ocean tropical coastline offers the perfect twin centre experience with its warm waters, coral reefs and white-sand palm-fringed beaches.

Muriithi Ndegwa, managing director KTB said the award was a great endorsement for Kenya as the home of the safari.

“Kenya’s pride in its safari product has been reaffirmed by this award which comes after KTB was also voted Africa’s Leading Tourism Board in October this year,” said Ndegwa. He added, ‘The award has raised the brand equity of the country following the successful implementation of the diversification agenda and adoption of new promotion strategies. “We acknowledge the fact that we must sustain our lead through additional investments in the sector to ensure that the Kenya safari experience for visitors remains unmatched.”
