Turkish Airlines' first flight to Mogadishu, Somalia and the first service to the Somali capital by any European airline, has landed. The journey marks the return of commercial carriers to the country after a 20-year hiatus. The new service, operating via Khartoum, will depart outbound on Tuesdays and Thursdays as TK 686 and return on Wednesdays and Fridays as TK 687. With the beginning of operations, Turkish Airline adds yet another point to its growing network, linking cities across the globe via its Istanbul hub. 


Qatar Airways has launched daily flights to Rwanda's Kigali International Airport operating via Entebbe. Further expansion is planned across East Africa during 2012 with new services to Mombasa, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro.

Kenya Airways will from Nairobi to New Delhi starting May 15, 2012, for four weekly rotations. Operated by Boeing 767-300, flights will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 1:50 p.m. in Nairobi and land in New Delhi at 23:30. Flights will depart the next day, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 0:50 to arrive in the Kenyan capital at 5:30 am local time.

Ethiopian Airlines announces the launch of new flight services non-stop from Addis Ababa to Cotonou, the economic capital of the Republic of Benin. The introduction of the new services will expand Ethiopian extensive network in West Africa. The Republic of Benin is a small but influential country in West Africa, with a significant amount of trader activity. Cotton is also a major contributor to Benin's economy.
