Blyde River Canyon & Swadini Dam Are Staying Open

Contrary to reports in October that sections of Swadini Dam and Blyde River Canyon would be restricted until February, the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) has recently confirmed that both attractions will stay open for business. KLCBT President Oupa Pilane said, “We would like to clarify that Swadini and the Blyde River Canyon will not be fully closed and that tourists will still be able to enjoy full access to the scenic beauty of these magnificent attractions". The most popular tourism attractions, such as Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and all the viewpoints along the canyon will be unaffected by the closures. Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency clarified that only a small section of the Swadini north of the main canyon will be restricted from Oct 29 – Jan 3, and again from Feb 19 – Feb 28. Access to the Swadini section will be fully restricted from Jan 4 – Feb 18.
