Kenya Airways inaugural flight to the United States from Nairobi

Airways’ inaugural flight to the United States was met with a ceremonial water
salute as it landed at New York’s JFK International Airport at 3PM on October
29th.
The 15-hour
flight on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Nairobi to New York was 7 hours
shorter than flights need to layover elsewhere before continuing across the
Atlantic.
This new
route is expected to increase trade and tourism between East Africa and the
United States, with the government hoping particular increases in corporate
travel and high-end tourism.
At the same
time, the Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority and the US Federal Aviation
Administration have entered into a new training agreement where the East African
School of Aviation will offer Flight Safety Inspection courses as an FAA
Training Centre in Africa.
