Maiden Rwanda Tourism Week launched

The Rwanda Chamber of Tourism today announced the forthcoming launch of the inaugural Rwanda Tourism Week.

The event, scheduled to take place from 24 – 26th November at the Kigali Serena Hotel, carries the theme “Rebuilding Tourism for Sustainable Growth” and aims to boost the confidence and morale in the tourism sector that had suffered an unprecedented blow since the COVID 19 pandemic hit in March 2020.

The event will showcase the Tourism and Hospitality actors within the value chain at an Exhibition that will kick off on 24th November and is expected to attract tourism and hospitality operators from around the country. For the very first time in Rwanda, the Tourism Week will feature Restaurant Week, where visitors and locals can enjoy food and drink from various restaurants in Kigali. There will also be a Photo Competition, engaging professional and amateur photographers to share photos depicting interesting tourism scenery and locations around the country. Furthermore, there will be the “Explore Kigali” tours and excursions where visitors and locals will get the opportunity to tour various locations within the city and explore the hidden ‘gems’ that are yet to be discovered.

The event will culminate with the prestigious Tourism Awards Gala Dinner on 27th November, where The Rwanda Chamber of Tourism will recognize key stakeholders that have made an extraordinary contribution to the control of the COVID-19 pandemic and supported the tourism recovery process.

Speaking during the Press Conference, The Rwanda Chamber of Tourism Director General Mr. Frank Gisha Mugisha said, “Our goal is to scale Rwanda Tourism Week and propel it to levels where it will be promoting public-private partnerships locally and regionally to boost the industry and also be recognized as one of the most influential private sector tourism event on the Rwanda tourism calendar”.
