Qatar airways ups frequencies to Asmara

Effective 06th of September will Qatar Airways add a fifth flight from Doha to Asmara, operated nonstop on an Airbus A320 aircraft which offers 12 seats in Business Class and 132 seats in Economy Class.

The expansion of Qatar Airways’ award winning service to Eritrea, launched less than a year ago, is a manifestation of sustained demand for flights into and out of the country and industry pundits are already speculating when the service will go daily. With the fifth flight services are now operated every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Said Qatar Airways’ Group CEO Mr. Akbar Al Baker when making the announcements yesterday: ‘Qatar Airways is committed to continually enhancing the five-star experience we offer to all our customers and this further expansion is in direct response to a growing demand on these popular routes. We are delighted to offer even more opportunities for our customers across the globe to connect through Doha’s state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport to Eritrea, flying on board one of the youngest fleets in the industry’.

After just 18 years of operations has Qatar Airways, especially since Mr. Al Baker has been put in charge, grown in leaps and bounds and today operates as the only airline the latest state of the art wide body aircraft, the Airbus A380, the Airbus A350 and the Boeing B787 Dreamliner. Both the airline as well as the new hub airport in Doha, Hamad International, have scooped awards and recognitions second to none. HIA in fact in its first full year of operation has handled more than 28 million passengers, connecting from across Africa via Doha to the world and vice versa.

Besides Asmara does Qatar Airways in the wider Eastern African region also serve Addis Ababa, Djibouti, Entebbe, Kigali, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.
