TANZANIA: SERENGETI WINS GLOBAL TOURISM AWARD

The international businessmen group Global Trade Leaders Club has selected the Serengeti National Park as the global winner of the 2013 International Award in Tourism, Hotel and Catering Industry.


Located in the North of Tanzania and bordered by Kenya, the Serengeti National Park covers 14,763 skm and is Tanzania's oldest national park and remains the flagship of the country's tourism industry, providing a major draw to the "Northern Safari Circuit” Including Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the southeast, Maswa Game Reserve southwest and Ikorongo and Grumeti Game Reserves to the west, the area attracts 150,000-200,000 tourists visiting the park each year.

The international award in tourism was created by the Global Trade Leaders Club an association based in Madrid, Spain which gathers 7,500 leading businesses from 95 different countries, all working in the sectors of production and services.

The goal of the award is to recognize the prestige of companies and organizations making an outstanding performance in the tourism industry.

This year the award ceremony was attended by more than 40 companies and took place from January 29th to the 31st in conjunction with FITUR the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, one of the main meeting points for the tourist sector worldwide.

All 16 National Parks in Tanzania together are administered by the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA).
