The Government of Tanzania, as of July 1, 2016, has implemented an 18% Value Added Tax to tourists services which were previously exempt from VAT, e.g. ground transportation, guiding fees, park fees and camping fees (not on accommodation as that is already included). The cost of one’s safari or climb up Kilimanjaro will now be more expensive, which is something no one is happy about, least of all the tour operators of Tanzania.
