Zimbabwe opens for tourism October 1

The following information has been updated as of 24th September 2020

Update from Zambia:

  • Contrary to rumours circulating online, tourist visas ARE available as per usual, welcoming everyone into Zambia. Therefore, depending on the travellers nationality, he/she can arrive without a visa, obtain a visa on arrival or apply for an e-visa before travel.
  • Refer to the Zambian Department of Immigration website which is very useful.

The Zimbabwe Cabinet yesterday approved the opening of Zimbabwe’s airports for domestic traffic from tomorrow, September 10, and for international travel on October 1, according to the official Facebook page of the Zimbabwe Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.

The post says standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been put in place at International and ‘some’ domestic airports.

“The National Guidelines for Aviation Safety and Security Guidelines have been developed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ), to ensure the safety of both the travellers and the airport staff. These are additional to temperature testing, social distancing, sanitization and mandatory wearing of masks. All travellers will be required to have a PCR Covid-19 Clearance Certificate issued by a recognized facility within 48 hours of departure, in line with WHO guidelines,” says the Ministry.

It is not yet clear if road borders will be open to international tourists or business travellers on October 1.
