After two months of uncertainty about mandatory quarantine for travellers arriving in Zimbabwe, including reports of quarantine not being implemented, the government has now lifted the requirement for all arrivals with immediate effect.
The removal of mandatory quarantine will be welcome news to local tourism businesses as well as those in the hospitality industry who have spent weeks collectively lobbying for removal of quarantine for all arrivals.
According to communications from the Zimbabwean government, over the past two weeks the country has recorded a decline in new COVID-19 cases, indicating that the fourth wave of infections is likely near an end.
Other amendments that have been made to the COVID-19 regulations include a change in curfew hours to 00h00-05h30, with restaurants, hotels, bars and nightclubs allowed to operate from 08h00-22h00. Entry to these venues is restricted to fully vaccinated individuals.
All arrivals in Zimbabwe must show a negative PCR test result from within 48 hours before their departure for Zimbabwe. Those who do not have proof of a valid negative test result will not be allowed to enter the country, the Department of Presidential Communications confirms.
