This safari takes you to Uganda’s major national parks taking in wildlife, birds, hiking and finally the famed Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Towards the end of your safari, you visit Lake Mburo National Park, which is the nearest game park to Uganda’s capital Kampala. In Mburo, you can do a bush-walk to see game at close quarters with an armed ranger, on horse-back or on a mountain bike.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Black and white rhinos are kept in a semi-natural environment as part of efforts to breed them before they are re-introduced in the wild. Rhinos became extinct in the wild in the 1970s due to poaching.

Boat Cruise

With over 4,000 hippos along this stretch of river, thousands of crocodiles and stunning birdlife, you are assured of a great adventure. If you are in luck, you will see the rare shoebill on the river’s bank. The boat takes you to the base of the falls where you will be in awe of the mighty falls. At the bottom of the falls, you have the option of hiking up to the top which counts for a good physical work-out and getting bathed in the misty spray at top. At the top, you can take pictures and busk in the misty spray that is created as the river falls through the 7-metre crack.

Kazinga Channel

The banks of the channel are home to many bird species that include pink-backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, the saddle billed stork among others.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

The guides will take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, looking for where the family of gorillas you are looking for, spent the night. (The search can take from half an hour to 5 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes). When you finally locate the family that you are searching for, sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest in the knowledge that you are in the presence of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the wild.
