Peru is a country in South America that's home to a section of Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu, an ancient Incan city high in the Andes mountains. The region around Machu Picchu, including the Sacred Valley, Inca Trail and colonial city of Cusco, is rich in archaeological sites. On Peru’s arid Pacific coast is Lima, the capital, with a preserved colonial center and important collections of pre-Columbian art.
Day 1 - LIMA / IN - Arrive Lima - meet & greet - transfer to your hotel and balance of day at leisure.
Day 2 - LIMA - Breakfast. Guided tour that includes visits to the main Colonial attractions such as the Main Square with the Cathedral, San Francisco Convent and many elegant buildings with their architectural wooden balconies. Later visit Lima's residential areas such as San Isidro with its Olive Grove, Country Club and Golf Course. End with the main shopping streets and return to hotel.
Day 3 - LIMA / CUSCO - Breakfast. Transfer to airport for flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, check and balance of day at leisure.
Day 4 - CUSCO / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO - Breakfast - Set off by train to Machu Picchu through the Sacred Valley. The single line track hugs the right side of the canyon next to the boulder-strewn roaring Urubamba River. Arrival at the small town of Aguas Calientes and then a 30 min bus ride up to Machu Picchu, an Inca city with a maze of fine stone temples, houses and fountains and which is situated on the ridge between two peaks. A guided tour is inclded. Have lunch in the afternoon and return to Cusco by train and tranfer to your hotel.
Day 5 - CUSCO - The day is free for your leisure time. Opitonal full day excursion to the Sacred Valley is available.
Day 6 - CUSCO / PUNO - Breakfast. Transfer to bus station to take bus from Cusco to Puno. The route there is stunning and stops are made at cultural cities. Entrance fees on route are optional. After arrival in Puno, you are transferred to your hotel.
Day 7 - PUNO / LAKE TITICACA / LIMA - Breakfast. In the morning take a short boat ride to visit the Uros Islands, famous for its floating reed islands of Lake Titicaca. In the afternoon go on an excursion to the haunting ruins at Sillustani - giant funeral towers used during pre- and Inca times to bury the wealthy, which overlook alpaca pastures and the tranquil lagoon of Umayo. Later transfer to the airport for your flight back to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for overnight.
Day 8 - PUNO / LIMA - Breakfast. Transfer to airport for your onward flight to Lima. Arrive Lima and transfer to your hotel.
Day 9 - LIMA - After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight to your next destination.
