Topping many travelers’ bucket lists is Machu Picchu in Peru, but that is not the only reason why one should travel around Peru. Peru has something to offer to everyone’s taste in travel – it has ancestral heritage sites, a land covered with amazing natural and pristine areas, the warm weather and great beaches and let’s not forget the contrast of different cultures and peoples.
Day 1 - LIMA / IN - Arrive Lima - meet & greet - transfer to your hotel and balance of day at leisure.
Day 2 - LIMA - Breakfast. Guided tour that includes visits to the main Colonial attractions such as the Main Square with the Cathedral, San Francisco Convent and many elegant buildings with their architectural wooden balconies. Later visit Lima's residential areas such as San Isidro with its Olive Grove, Country Club and Golf Course. End with the main shopping streets and return to hotel.
Day 3 - LIMA / CUSCO - Breakfast. Transfer to airport for flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, check and spend some free time to adjust to the altitude. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of Cusco.
Day 4 - CUSCO / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO - Breakfast - Set off by train to Machu Picchu through the Sacred Valley. The single line track hugs the right side of the canyon next to the boulder-strewn roaring Urubamba River. Arrival at the small town of Aguas Calientes and then a 30 min bus ride up to Machu Picchu, an Inca city with a maze of fine stone temples, houses and fountains and which is situated on the ridge between two peaks. A guided tour is inclded. Have lunch in the afternoon and return to Cusco by train and tranfer to your hotel.
Day 5 - CUSCO / PUNO - Breakfast. Transfer to bus station and take an all-day bus ride from Cusco to Puno. The route is scenically stunning and there are stops at cultural sites along the way. The bus climbs to the high pass of La Raya at 4,300 metres. Here the scenery changes dramatically. Arrive in Puno and check into hotel. Stay overnight for acclimatization.
Day 6 - PUNO / LAKE TITICACA / LIMA - Breakfast. In the morning take a short boat ride to visit the Uros Islands, famous for its floating reed islands of Lake Titicaca. In the afternoon go on an excursion to the haunting ruins at Sillustani - giant funeral towers used during pre- and Inca times to bury the wealthy, which overlook alpaca pastures and the tranquil lagoon of Umayo. Later transfer to the airport for your flight back to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for overnight.
Day 7 - LIMA / OUT - Breakfast. Transfer to airport for your onward flight to next destination.
