American zoologist George Schaller, one of the first people to study Mountain Gorillas in the wild, once said: “No one looks into the eyes of a Mountain Gorilla, gentle and vulnerable, can remain unchanged.” An encounter with the gorillas has emerged to be one of the most exhilarating experiences in the wild. Before having a close encounter with the gentle giants, your journey will take you across central Uganda through the tropical landscape with a lot of green, a bit of savannah plains to the highlands of the southwest in an area referred to as the “Switzerland of East Africa.”

Get up at 6.00am for a quick breakfast and transfer to the Buhoma gate of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. With packed lunch in your carry-on, your guide will take you to the tracking start point before 8:00 am for registration and a briefing on what to expect before commencing your track.
The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting creepers, to track the gorillas. When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male - the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense forest in the knowledge you are in the presence of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the wild.
