Lemosho Camping Route

This comprises 2 routes starting in the same center in the western side of Mt Kilimanjaro (Lemosho route and Londrosi route taking also a minimum of 7-8 days for enjoyable and a comfortable hike). 
The vegetation changes when you get to Shira plateau where after you join the Kibo circuit. 
The change is fabulous as you walk through open grasslands and the heath and moorland then to the alpine desert and to the arctic zone on the summit. 
This camping route also passes through the impressive Shira cone, cathedral and Shira needles. 
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, meet and greet and Transfer to Moshi Town
Overnight at Bristol lodge on bed and breakfast basis.  
Day 2: Moshi to starting point
After breakfast check out from lodge and drive to Londrosi gate (2250m) which will take 1 hour for registration and payment to obtain permit and then drive back to Lemosho starting point (2100m) for your climb. The climb through the rain forest is 6 km to Mti Mkubwa camp (BIG TREE CAMP) -2750m which will take 3 to 4hrs and altitude gained is 650m. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa to Shira One Camp
After breakfast continue on hiking through the heath and moorland zone to Shira one camp (3500m) which will take 5-6hrs, dinner and overnight at the campsite. Distance covered is 9km and altitude gained is 750m.
Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1

•Distance: 9 km
•Hiking Time 5-6 hours
•Habitat: Moorland
Day 4: Shira One Camp - Shira Two Camp
After breakfast continue hiking through heath and moorland to Shira Two campsites (3850m) which will take 3 to 4hrs, dinner and overnight at the campsite. Distance covered is 4km and altitude gained is 350m.
Shira Camp 1 to Shira 2

•Distance: 4 km
•Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
•Habitat: Moorland 
Day 5: Shira Two Camp - Barranco Camp
Early in the morning after breakfast start hiking to Baranco Camp- (3940m) through Lava Tower – (4600m) for acclimatizing. It takes 6 -7hrs   with picnic lunch, Dinner and overnight Baranco camp (3940m). Distance covered is 10.75km via Lava Tower and altitude gained is 750m then from Lava Tower to Baranco altitude gained is 660m.
Shira 2 to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

•Distance: 10.75 km
•Hiking Time: 6-7hours
•Habitat: Semi Desert 
Day 6: Barranco Camp - Karanga Camp 
After breakfast start climbing Baranco walls- (4250m) to Karanga Camp – (4000m). Have hot lunch, rest and walk around for Acclimatizing. It takes 3-4hrs. 
Dinner and overnight at the camp. Distance covered is 4.25km and altitude gained is 60m. 
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
•Elevation (ft): 13,000ft to 13,100ft
•Distance: 4.25km
•Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
•Habitat: Alpine Desert
Day 7: Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp
Having breakfast about 8:30am continue on hiking through the heath and moorland to Barafu Camp 4600m. It takes 3-4hrs and distance covered is 4.25km and altitude gained is 600m before you get hot lunch, rest and then early dinner and sleep for a short hours then wake up about 11:00pm, pack the Useful things for the summit have hot drinks and bites and start hiking to the top of Africa Uhuru Peak- (5895M) it takes about 6-7hrs and distance covered is 4.86km and altitude gained is 1295m.
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
•Elevation (ft): 13,100ft to 15,300ft
•Distance: 4 km
•Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
•Habitat: Alpine Desert
Day 8: Barafu Camp -  Uhuru Peak - Millenium Camp 
Around 0430hrs start climbing towards Uhuru peak It will takes roughly 7 to 8hrs to reach the Uhuru peak, around 1230hrs you will be at peak, you will stay half our at peak and later start descending to Barafu camp. Takes about 6 to 7hrs from summit to Barafu camp for breakfast and rest for few hours, eat hot lunch and then continue descending from the alpine desert, heath and moorland to the edge of the rain forest at Millennium camp- (3100m). Distance covered from Uhuru Peak to Barafu camp and to Millennium is 10 to 16hrs and altitude lost is 2795m.
Walking distance: 5 km ascent + 10 km descent
Walking time: 5-6 hrs + 1-2 hours up, 5-6 hours down (the overall walking time may vary from 11 - 17 hours)
Altitude gain: 1072 m/ 3511 ft (Stella Point) or 1215 m/3980 ft (Uhuru Peak)
Descent: 2075 m/6810 ft
Day 9: Millenium Camp - Mweka Camp 
Walk after breakfast to Mweka Camp (1800m) through the rain Forest for 3-4hrs distance covered is 5km and altitude lost is 1400m.
Overnight at Mweka Camp 
Day 10: Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate 
Walk after breakfast to Mweka Gate through the rain Forest for 3-4hrs distance covered is 9.1 km. 
You will receive your award certificate if you will have made it to the top and meet the vehicle and transfer to lodge for hot shower.
Overnight at lodge on bed and breakfast basis. 
End of climbing.
