Located on the South Eastern coast of Africa, this major sea port and tourist destination is set along the beautiful shores of Algoa Bay, and is fondly referred to as the Friendly Eco-City. Within the city there are some beautiful parks with well landscaped gardens, two of the larger ones are: St Georges Park, which covers 73 hectares and is home to the world famous Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, the oldest Bowling Green in South Africa, Prince Alfred's Guard Memorial and the 1882 Victorian Pearson Conservatory. The other Park being the 54 hectare Settler's Park in the city centre, which is a nature lover's paradise, as it boasts beautiful flora and fauna.
Stellenbosch is the second-oldest and undoubtedly the most scenically attractive and historically preserved town in southern Africa. The name conjures up images as few other towns or cities can. History is reflected in the neo-Dutch, Georgian and modern-Victorian architecture that encompasses simple lines, fine detail and elegant proportions that bear witness to a proud and dignified heritage. Oak-lined streets, where jagged lines of trees etched against white walls transform the streets into soft, shady tunnels, offer welcome relief from the hot sun. The mild weather and unique terroir is ideal for wine-growing and the region has amassed many international awards over the years.
The wine farms in Stellenbosch range from big farms with, high tech cellars, through multi-functional farms and historical manors to small, more intimate wine estates that lend themselves to relax and enjoy nature and the fruits of the vine! Most of these farms lie in the many valleys and hills of the Stellenbosch Wine area and boast with magical views of the Winelands.
