Tarangire National Park is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania and is located in Manyara Regiona. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park. The Tarangire River is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the annual dry season. TheTarangire Ecosystem is defined by the long-distance migration of the wildebeest and zebras. During the dry season thousands of animals concentrate in Tarangire National Park from the surrounding wet-season dispersal and calving areas.
The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated 180 km (112 miles) west of Arush in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania.
Enclosed within its towering walls are grasslands, swamps, forests, saltpans, a fresh water lake and a glorious variety of birdlife. Here too are all the members of the ‘Big Five’ (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo) as well as a large cast of plains game and one of Africa’s densest populations of predators. The Ngorongoro Crater and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are without a doubt some of the most beautiful parts of Tanzania, steeped in history and teeming with wildlife. Besides vehicle safaris to Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge, and surrounding attractions, hiking treks through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are becoming increasingly popular options.
The Serengeti National Park is most famous for its annual migration of over one and a half million wildebeest and 250,000 zebra. It is widely regarded as the best wildlife reserve in Africa due to its density of predators and prey.
