In this modern world of e-mails, smartphones, tablets and social network sites, etiquette seems to have fallen by the wayside. Some may think that rules imposed by others diminish our freedom of expression, but in business, etiquette is still essential. You can find a lot of companies that advise other companies on etiquette, but we’re only sharing some basic rules of business etiquette that make people feel good.
Send a Thank You Note – It will differentiate you from others.
Don’t just impress senior management, but develop relationships with your clients, vendors and other people in your company, regardless of their roles, and acknowledge what they do.
Don’t try to multitask when you’re in a conversation with someone in front of you.
Don’t be distracted by your smartphone or other device but instead focus on the face in front of you.
Don’t be quick to judge. We all have our vices and we can all improve. Agree to disagree. Etiquette is a positive behavior. Before you judge, ask yourself, will that make someone feel good?
