July is a camping month!

This is a great opportunity to introduce people you know to the fun activity of camping. Many people aren’t sure that they will like camping. You’ll hear things like “I’m sleeping on the ground?”, or “I don’t like bugs”, or other similar things. But you most likely have ready answers for these objections. Try to help them think about camping as an experience that they can try, but they don’t have to commit to anything beyond giving it a try for one night. If you have space in your backyard, that makes it easy to try. Yet part of the fun is sitting around a fire at night, cooking marshmallows or other yummy desserts, sharing stories, and even singing a camp song or two.

Best Time to Do Tanzania Camping Safari

Think about visiting Tanzania during the birds’ annual migration. It would be a hell of a show for birds and wildlife lovers in general.
The best wildlife viewing months in Tanzania are during the dry season. It’s actually from late June to October. The best chance of seeing the wildebeest migration is during June and July and the time to see the wildebeest calving is late January to February.

Where to Go For Camping Safari?

Camping safaris in the northern part of Tanzania are very popular and the national parks of Tarangire, Manyara, Serengeti and the legendary Ngorongoro Crater can easily be visited. Public campsites are available either inside of the parks or directly on its outskirts. All campsites have sanitary facilities but most are very basic.
The southern part of Tanzania along with the national parks of Mikumi, Ruaha and Udzungwa, as well as the game reserve Selous, can also be combined as part of a camping safari. Campsites are available inside and outside the parks.

Why Choose a Camping Safari in Tanzania?

Whether you choose a camping safari in Tanzania to save some money or because you want to feel closer to nature and the excitement of a real African bush adventure, Tanzania is at its best and most authentic.
Also, with camping being outdoors isn’t just about being in a new environment it’s about developing an appreciation for nature and respecting the world around you.

Okay, They Will Go Camping…

Fantastic... You convinced them to give camping a try. What should they bring in their back pack? First, you’ll be setting up camp, so dress according to the weather. This often means shorts and a light shirt. Later, as the sun sets and the fire gets going, they might want some long pants and a sweatshirt. Even a spare blanket might be welcome.
If you’re the gaming type, card games are a great way to have fun so take them with you. Some games also have miniaturized versions for travel.
Sometimes solitude is desired, and many people look at camping as a way to finally get time to read. Bring your favorite book or magazines to enjoy outside. Or maybe you want to practice art, so bring your art supplies and paint a picture of your campsite.
Photography is another great option, to capture every special safari moment will be a brilliant idea. Make sure your camera is fully charged so you don’t regret missing any action which allows you to snapshot the fun and practice your skills.

Food on Camping Safari: A Delicious

For food items can be discussed ahead of time, and your new camping friends should be encouraged to bring some needed items and help out with the food preparation. Who doesn’t love sitting under the stars and roasting marshmallows and making S’mores, or waking up to the smell of wood smoke and bacon?

Classic Camping Activities

We’re not advocating for a structured schedule, that mindset should go out the window as soon as you lose cell coverage but, having a few activities up your sleeve is a good way to ensure nobody succumbs to campsite fever.

Hiking; is a thrilling way to get to explore the outdoors together a way that campers can bond and experience nature in a fun, interactive way. Hiking to destinations like look out points and waterfalls allows campers to see their surroundings from a different perspective and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Kayak / Canoeing Explorations; another great way for campers to experience the wilderness and scenery around them is by participating in various kayaking or canoeing tours. This allows campers to get out and get exercise in an adventurous way as it creates a sense of power and freedom as campers get the opportunity to try something new on their own.

Extreme Zip Line; we've all heard of zip lines. Buzz seekers travel all over the world to take part in zip lining experiences. Zip lines are a great way to see the campground's beautiful surroundings. For more ambitious campers, try placing a zip line over the camp's body of water. This is a surefire way to get campers involved and ready for an exciting ride. Zip lining is an option that can accommodate many people of all shapes and sizes.

Campfire Songs; if you’re lucky enough to have a fellow camper who’s good with the guitar, bring a six string and sing a few songs while everyone is roasting marshmallows around the fire. You don’t have to be an American Idol contender to enjoy this activity it’s still pretty fun when your buddies sound like a pack of dogs howling at the moon.

Well with camping that’s really all that is needed for a single overnight. Indeed it’s one of the escape to find your soul and set your mind to peace out in the great distant woods, to head back out there and find ourselves.
