What is an Expo?

A large-scale exhibition or trade – show. The event is usually held globally, and is often conducted on an international level, dedicated to finding solutions to fundamental challenges facing humanity by offering a journey inside a chosen theme through engaging and immersive activities.

What is the Dubai EXPO 2020? 

It is a ‘World EXPO’ to be hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, opening on October 20, 2020 and closing on April 10, 2021.  Bringing together different countries from all over the world, with the opportunity to share ideas, innovations and offer solutions to create a better world. The theme for this EXPO - ‘Connecting Minds, Creating The Future’. 

What is the purpose of the EXPO?

Through its theme - ‘Connecting minds, creating the future’ – EXPO 2020 aims to unlock the potential of each visitor while encouraging collaboration and presenting opportunities for all to make a difference towards the future development of humanity.

Why visit the EXPO? 

You will be exposed to 100 or more different countries at a single site, it’s like visiting most of the world - and learning about other countries culture, governments, issues and travel opportunities – at once. It also opens up your mind on all the possibilities that human kind can do, of the things to come to the world, and participating as the resident of this world that you live in. Become more informative, and if you have a child even better to have them see that here is no limit to what the human mind can do and all the range of possibilities that they have for their future. 

What can you expect at EXPO 2020? 

The Expo 2020 will feature pavilions dedicated to countries from around the world. There will be performances from world – famous stars, cultural experiences, fashion shows and talks with the world top academics. There will also be make-your-own robot workshops and exhibitions showcasing the latest 3D printing technology. Every day during the 173 days of the EXPO, a different country will be featured in a cultural showcase that includes parades and other festivities. 

Why is the Dubai EXPO 2020 important?

The first ever world expo was held in the Crystal Palace in London Hyde’s Park in 1851, and since then, many of history’s most famous inventions have been exhibited, including the telephone in 1876, the ice cream cone in 1904 and even a humanoid robot in Nagoya in 2005. Back in November 2013, the UAE won the right to host Expo 2020 – becoming the first country ever in the Middle East and South Asia to do so. 

Where is the main EXPO 2020 site in Dubai? 

The location is at Dubai South district, near Al Makhtoum international airport. It has its own metro station which makes it convenient for people to get around when staying anywhere in Dubai.  

Is there any benefit in the EXPO?

Participating in an Expo allows countries to create a fleeting miniature world, a microcosm of global progress and dialogue. Expos provide a unique and international stage to engage in cultural diplomacy and interact with the host country, other participants, potential tourists, trade partners and investors. Also, the event is expected to have a great impact on Dubai and UAE's economy. It shall encourage thousands of tourists to visit the country which will energize business, hospitality, real estate, recreation, and many other tourism sectors.
