TAKING BABY ON A PLANE

The idea of flying with a baby may seem daunting at first, but taking your little one on a trip with you can be fun and exciting, and with a little planning, may not be as troublesome as you may think. Here are some tips to help make your trip smooth sailing – for you and your baby.

 1. Plan Feedings
The takeoffs and landings during airplane rides can be hard on little ears, but the sucking action of feeding helps to alleviate the pressure in baby ears. It will also keep the baby occupied during a critical time in the flight, and if you’re lucky, a good feeding on takeoff, plus the ambient noise and the gentle shaking of the plane will lull the baby right to sleep.

2. Take Extra Clothes – for both of you!
Taking extra clothes for baby is something every new parent learns early. But when you’re flying with an infant, make sure you pack a space change of clothes in your carry-on luggage for you too. Airplanes are small spaces, and an accident in baby’s clothes can turn into an accident on your clothes before you know it.

3.Zip it
Take large-sized Ziploc bags with you on your flight. You’ll go through clothes, washcloths and more, and will be tempted to just throw them all away midflight. Having Ziploc bags to put them in and seal them up will save your items from the garbage, and your diaper bag from the mess.

4.Take Your Entertainment
Don’t forget to pack baby’s favorite stuffed animal, chew toys and rattles. Don’t worry about any noise the toys may make on the plane. The sound of a rattle here and there is always better than the sound of a crying baby.

And above all, relax and have fun! Most people on your flight will understand if you baby gets fussy. But your little one is only so little for so long. So get adventurous, put the travel bug in them early, and enjoy it every step of the way.
