UMVA was started to bring to the forefront a new type of experience in hospitality - combining adventure, amazing food, and community. The original idea started with a lake house with a big dining table, but one thing led to another and we decided we wanted to host more people. 

Great design has always been a driving value for us - we wanted you to feel closely integrated to the natural environment, ensuring there was a seamless transition from the indoors to the outdoors. We got inspired by Japanese, Scandinavian and local architecture and wanted to blend that mix with Rwanda’s Eastern Province feel. 

Sustainability was also key for us.
