Last week a group of friends and I ventured back to the Serengeti after a long respite due to the Covid 19 disruption.
It was a surreal and unimaginably wonderful experience. The air was fresh and cool, wildlife rested and lush. I could never have imagined to love more than I do such a beautiful piece of land despite my many safaris in the past.
We stayed at a uniquely positioned property in the centre of the Serengeti captioned by mountains behind it and a full endless view of the Serengenti plains dotted by wildlife and Acacia trees.
The staff were Covid aware, so friendly and the food delicious - a particular mention to head Chef Veronica who delighted us with her food anecdotes and local cuisine. It was inspiring to meet a local chef from the place where she was born running a team of efficient and welcoming staff.
The drive is long, we covered over 300 Km after landing at Mwanza Airport but we saw so much wildlife to Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge that was breathtaking to see after such a long period from nature.
Our driver and guide is a Masai and he entertained us with knowledge of the bush spotting lions and hippos as if on instinct.
Beautiful trip, amazing landscapes and a wonderful people. After the experience of patiently waiting for parks to open I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to revisit Serengeti with a new appreciation.
