Mumbai Airport launches COVID testing facility for all departing passengers

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has now launched express COVID-19 RT-PCR test facility for passengers departing from the airport. This facility is also available for non-passengers visiting the airport to drop/receive family and friends. This was recently announced by a Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) spokesperson. Earlier, the airport launched this facility for international transit passengers.

The MIAL stated that departing passengers can undergo the COVID test at the airport before setting off to their destination, which would give them an option to skip institutional quarantine at their destination by showing their negative test report.

Reportedly, the facility is located on the curbside of Level 4 at Terminal 2 for departing passengers, which non-passengers can also opt to undergo the said test. The CSMIA in its statement mentioned that the COVID test report certificate will also be provided to departing passengers which they can produce at their destination to skip the quarantine period. It has, however, been advised that passengers departing from the airport will be required to arrive at the terminal 8-12 hours before scheduled departure to undergo the said test and get a report of the same.

Airport officials explained that the test report will take around 8-12 hours, which will be mailed digitally to passengers or a passenger can book a slot and get himself or herself tested beforehand to get a physical copy while departing.
