August 1 will bring the opening of Mara Nyika, a sister camp to Mara Plains as part of the Great Plains Conservation Group in Masai Mara. This intimate four-tent camp will be able to accommodate up to eight guests in its canvas tents, plus a tent for guides. Privacy of guests is maintained with the tents being set under a canopy of umbrella thorn trees, but there is a walkway from the tents to the main area of the camp. This feature gives guests in Mara Nyika both privacy and easy access to the rest of the camp. The camp itself offers early morning, late afternoon and evening game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle, balloon flights are available at an extra charge, and visitors can learn about the Masai community and culture as the Great Plains Conservation supports over 500 Masai families as part of its overall mission.
