flydubai Opens Doors to Mombasa with New Flight Routes

On 17 January 2024, flydubai, a Dubai-based carrier, commenced its operations to Mombasa, Kenya, expanding its network in Africa to 12 destinations across 11 countries. The inaugural flight, FZ 1289, departed from Dubai International (DXB) and received a warm welcome at Moi International Airport (MBA) with a celebratory water cannon salute. Notable attendees included H.E. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, Governor of Mombasa, Hon. Onesimus Murkomen, Minister of Roads and Transport, as well as representatives from Kenya Tourism and Kenya Airports Authority. Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai, expressed the airline's commitment to strengthening its African network and providing passengers with convenient travel options to East Africa. This new route aims to serve the growing Kenyan community in the UAE, facilitate trade between the two countries, and offer passengers access to Kenya's tourism offerings. Moi International Airport is seen as a gateway to East Africa, fostering economic growth, tourism, and cultural exchange. flydubai's network in Africa now includes Addis Ababa, Alexandria, Asmara, Cairo, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Hargeisa, Juba, Mogadishu, Mombasa, and Zanzibar. The airline operates four weekly flights to Moi International Airport, with Emirates codesharing on this route to provide passengers with additional connection options through Dubai's international aviation hub.
