Day 1: Nairobi
Jambo! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your chosen city hotel. The rest of the day and evening are at your own leisure.
Overnight at your hotel on bed and breakfast basis. There is a whole array of optional activities which we can organize during your stay in the city depending on your preferences (at an additional cost).
For example, if you like to include some of the classic highlights of Nairobi, you could visit the famous Karen Blixen Museum and indulge in Kenya’s olden days… This is where most of the famous Hollywood movie “Out of Africa” was filmed starring Meryl Streep & Robert Redford… You can easily combine this with a visit of the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to learn about these impressive, playful giants and how they are being prepared to be released back into the wild…
Another great idea is to visit the prominent Giraffe Centre, where you will get up really close to giraffes.
Anyway, you might just want to relax after your long flight and simply enjoy the hotel facilities. Dinner is on your own account. Nairobi offers a vast range of restaurants – we are happy to help you make a good choice!
Day 2: Nairobi – Lake Naivasha / Lake Elementaita
After breakfast, departure will be around 08:30 am to start your journey towards the lakes of the Great Rift Valley. Arrival at your lodge will be in time for lunch. After check in and lunch, you can choose from a variety of optional activities (at an additional cost): If you reside at Lake Naivasha – we highly recommend a boat ride on the lake to experience the peaceful landscape, meet the day-dozing hippos and indulge in some splendid bird watching. Alternatively, you can go on a game drive at Hell’s Gate National Park or take a scenic nature walk on Crescent Island to get up real close to the resident zebras giraffes!
If you reside at Lake Elementaita, you can go on a refreshing guided walk along the Elementaita lake shore and enjoy some remarkable birdwatching, - or embark on a guided walk or game drive in the private, often underrated Soysambu Conservancy! Overnight at your chosen camp/lodge at Lake Naivasha or Lake Elementaita on full board basis
Day 3: Naivasha - Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, your journey takes you to the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most famous wildlife reserve. The drive
from Lake Naivasha / Lake Elementaita takes about 4 hours to the gate, but will allow you to experience the wide open landscape of the Great Rift Valley enroute, offering picturesque views of the
valley’s Eastern escarpment, Mount Longonot and Mount Suswa.
Enjoy a first sense of true adventure as you make your way through the park to your chosen camp/lodge. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by your check in. Thereafter, you will embark on your very first fully-fledged game drive in the Masai Mara in the afternoon!
Overnight at your chosen camp/lodge on full board basis.
Day 4: Masai Mara
Today enjoy a full day in the stunning Masai Mara. Two game drives are recommended in a day, one in the early morning and another one in the late afternoon, because this marks the time when the animals are most active. Alternatively, you can choose to take an early breakfast and then embark on a more extensive full-day game drive with packed picnic lunch, which will allow you to also explore more remote areas of the reserve and discover its diverse landscape more intensively. The choice is yours – just go ahead and discuss & plan each day with your personal driver/guide to ensure it will go perfectly to your liking!
Overnight at your chosen camp/lodge on full board basis.
Day 5: Masai Mara - Nairobi
After an early breakfast at the lodge/camp, bid farewell to the Mara as you start your road trip back to the capital. Drive back through the Great Rift Valley, passing numerous smaller and bigger dormant volcanos along the way. With a picnic lunch on the way you will return to Kenya’s bustling capital city where you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight back home.
