This 5-day safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda. Bwindi is a verdant magnificent swathe of rain forest across the steep ridges of the Albertine Rift Valley. This ancient rainforest is one of the few on the African continent to have flourished and a home to half of the world’s endangered population of Mountain Gorillas.
Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
7:30 am: Pick-up from your hotel in Kampala and head west to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, taking in spectacular glimpses of the Great Rift Valley in Western Uganda. If you wish, you can stop at the equator to take photographs and buy souvenirs en-route (495 km / 9 hours).
Arrive at your lodge early evening.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, depart your lodge with picnic lunch boxes, and assemble at the nearest ranger post of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to be introduced to your rangers, and for a briefing on your trek. Begin your gorilla tracking expedition. When you find the gorillas, you will be permitted to view them for an hour before returning to the ranger post and to your lodge.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, depart Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with a packed lunch, and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Road conditions permitting, travel via the remote Ishasha area of the park.
Check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight at your lodge.
3 game drives to be taken at your leisure.
Boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kampala
Breakfast at leisure.
Bid farewell to your lodge and depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park late morning to arrive in Kampala late in the afternoon (435 km / 6 ½ hours).
Drop off at your hotel.
