You may have the luxury of a nice bed, great food, warm blankets, even a hot water bottle, but the chance of getting loads of hot water after a dusty safari are minimal. Single Tourist Visa to attract more tourists

The recently launched Single Tourist Visa covering Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda is expected to attract more tourists to the region. Amb. Valentine Rugwabiza, the Chief Executive Officer Rwanda Development Board told a news conference recently, "We expect the number of tourists to double because of the ease in acquiring such a visa and the different tourist packages offered in the three different countries," she said.

New Serengeti Airport

US tycoon and conservationist Paul Tudor Jones has partnered with the Tanzanian government to finance a new airport near Tanzania's most renowned national park, Serengeti, in Northern Tanzania. Serengeti is currently served by Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), about 50km from Arusha town and about 400km from Serengeti. The new airport in Mugumu town, near Serengeti, will make it easier for foreign tourists to fly directly into the park. Mr Jones already own a number of super-luxury lodges in the area, via Singita Grumeti Reserves (SGR).

Low season Gorilla permits

Gorilla tracking in Uganda, for the months of April and May this year (2014), will be considerably more affordable for tourists coming to The Pearl of Africa for a big game safari after the Uganda Wildlife Authority announced that tariffs will be slashed in order to boost the sale of permits during the low season months.

Kenya Airways tops Heathrow's punctuality rankings

Kenya Airways continues to have the most punctual flights that flew in and out of London Heathrow International Airport in the United Kingdom during the month of February 2014, latest statistics from the facility have indicated.

Fly SAX coming to Tanzania

The new carrier has been set up by Kenyan safari and private charter carrier Fly-SAX, and Brown Francis has been appointed as general manager.Subject to receiving regulatory approvals from Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority, the new airline's maiden flight is expected to occur in the second half of 2014.
