2017 Travel Throwback

If you have been living under the cloud this year, we bring to you highlights of 2017 – new airlines, upcoming and newly opened camps and exciting places to add your travel list for the New Year:

  • Plan a trip locally with Kenya’s new low cost domestic airline – Silverstone, flying to Kisumu & Ukunda from Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Safarilink added a new route to Zanzibar earlier this year, making travel from different safari destinations in Kenya easier.
  • Several new camps have opened this year - the new eco-tourism camp – Roho Ya Selous in the Selous Game Reserve. Intimate Places added a new addition to their camps – Siringit Serengeti Camp in the Serengeti National Park and the Porini Cheetah Camp in the Masai Mara is a new addition to the Porini portfolio. If you haven’t yet stayed at any of these camps yet, then add them to your list.
  • Seychelles featured as the top Island Destination in Africa & The Middle East at the Travel and Leisure awards held this year. Definitely a great place to escape to with your partner. If you are planning your honeymoon, an anniversary or just a romantic getaway, then you know where to go to.
  • No guesses for the best safari destination for 2017 – Tanzania – from the several national parks that Tanzania has to offer, you are highly likely to spot the BIG Five and many other wild animals. Make sure you have your cameras ready to capture the beautiful and varied wildlife.
  • This year saw the comeback of train travel from Nairobi to Mombasa. The SGR has been in operation since June and has proved to be very popular. The SGR will now be providing two services from Nairobi – Mombasa and return on a daily basis. If you are on a budget or want to experience a different kind of journey to the north coast of Mombasa, then book a ticket on the SGR and you won’t be disappointed.
  • Gorilla permit fees in Uganda remain at USD 600 for all non-residents. Get up, close and personal with the Gorillas in Uganda – a lifetime experience you will always cherish. While on your holiday in Uganda, spot the tree climbing lions or take a trip to see the incredible views of Murchison Falls.

The list is endless and there are always going to be new places to visit. Get in touch with Rickshaw and allow us to help you plan your 2018 holidays.
