NO HIGHWAY THROUGH SERENGETI

After a seemingly endless cycle of bad news surrounding East Africa, its natural beauty and wildlife, there is still hope and some good news to share finally. On June 20, the East African Court of Justice ruled in favor of the Serengeti National Park, banning the government of Tanzania from constructing a paved road across the northern Serengeti.

Aptly put by the Executive Director for the African Network for Animal Welfare; he said "This was not a win for ANAW, not for our lawyer, Saitabao Ole Kanchory, not for Serengeti Watch, not for our expert witness John Kuloba, but for the millions of animals in the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. It is a win for nature and God's creation. Nature has won today.

Serengeti is still not clear of all threats, but this is a good start.
