'Catch me if you can!' - Gilbert Ott

A travel blogger has launched a new campaign where any passenger on his flight who recognises him can swap their Economy ticket for his Business Class seat…. and his next flight is from Terminal 5 at the London airport on Sunday.

Gilbert Ott from God Save The Points hailed Richard Branson as his inspiration for the new “Catch Me If You Can” scheme. He said: “You may need a little bit of luck, but if you find me in an airport: check in counter, security lane, terminal, lounge or even boarding gate, I’ll switch seats with you, provided we’re on the same flight.

“I’m flying [each month] in Business or First Class this year, and you can get upgraded-all you have to do is say ‘Gilbert, GodSaveThePoints. I want your seat’, or something like that.”

To make it a bit easier, he’ll be posting and regularly updating a map of his upcoming travels on Twitter.

In the week and days before any flight he will also drop clues about where he is, where he’ll be going, when and which airline on Twitter and Instagram.

The aim of the new campaign is to attract as many people as possible to his travel information website.

Gilbert added: “I’ll probably come to regret this, especially on one of the countless 10+ hour flights I have upcoming. “But I’m really proud of our new site and if the chance to make me sit in coach while simultaneously making someone’s day brings me a single new reader, I’m psyched about that.”

Upcoming flights for Gilbert include New York to Washington DC and LA, and long-haul flights like the 12-hour Tokyo to Doha journey.

But the giveaway extends further than one free seat, as British Airways have also got involved. The airline is also offering ten free Business Class upgrades for anyone who spots Gilbert on a BA flight.
