Petrofuel DC Caravans T20 Cup to begin on 13th May 2023
Caravans Cricket Club has officially launched their highly anticipated tournament, the PETROFUEL DC CARAVANS T20 CUP Tournament, with an exciting inaugural function and captains meet held on Sunday at the Akemi Restaurant in Dar Es Salaam. The tournament is considered the biggest in the Country, fielding the top 10 teams face off against each other to find out the best amongst the rest. Caravans has been conducting their Anniversary Tournament since 2009, and this edition is their 15th in succession.
The event was well attended by the Sponsors, Franchisees and Captains of all participating teams who were introduced to each other and had the opportunity to discuss the tournament's rules and regulations.
CAT 2023 promises to be an action-packed event, featuring a T20 format as per ICC guidelines, culminating in the grand finale. The Winner of the 10 participating teams will take home the coveted PETROFUEL DC CARAVANS T20 CUP, which was in full display at the venue.
Speaking at the function, the Caravans Cricket Club Chairman expressed his excitement for the tournament, stating that it was a great opportunity for his Club to promote the sport and bring together the cricketing community in Tanzania. He also unveiled the Mascot of the tournament, which was a Giraffe, the national animal of Tanzania. He went on to mention that this mascot was chosen to spread awareness on wildlife conservation.
The inaugural function also saw the unveiling of the tournament trophy which was designed to reflect the spirit and competitiveness of the event, by the title Sponsor, PETROFUEL.
Special Jerseys for Title Sponsor (PETROFUEL) and Platinum category Sponsors – Alliance Insurance, TATA Holdings, Colourflex, RAS Logistics, Rickshaw Travels and ASAS Pepsi were also displayed and handed over to their respective representatives.
The 10 franchises of the tournament were also unveiled at the function. The teams contesting in this year’s PETROFUEL DC CARAVANS T20 CUP are Alliance Caravans, Aurobindo AKSC, Jiuzhou Gymkhana, Remax Strikers, E-Parking Aces, Flashnet Pak Stars, Azania Bank Upanga Club, All Season Lions, Ateme SKLPSC and RAS Logistics Caravans.
All Captains of the respective teams were called on to the Stage and their official jerseys were unveiled during the program.
Hisense, Automark, Aucom & Harmonic, Oman Air, General Petroleum, Ashton Media Honeywell, Horizon Teleports and Car & General were part of the Gold Sponsors to the tournament, besides several other Corporates and Institutions coming forward to support the prestigious Tournament.
With the tournament set to commence in the coming days, cricket enthusiasts can look forward to a thrilling display of cricketing talent and sportsmanship.
