Rwanda keeps On Arrival testing in place, waives quarantine

Classic Africa Safaris reports that as of 02 February 2022, quarantine/isolation in Kigali hotels has been waived. The negative PCR Covid-19 test taken 72 hrs prior to arrival is still required, as is the on-arrival rapid antigen test. The timeframe for testing for entry into National Parks and for primate trekking has been modified to 72 hrs prior to entry up from 24 hrs prior to entry.

Check the CAS News Updates page frequently for the most current entry and testing requirements for Uganda & Rwanda.

In summary:

  • Full RT-PCR Covid test and Rapid Antigen test required on arrival
  • Compulsory Rapid Antigen test required on Day 3
  • Both arrival testing and test on Day 3 to be paid at the airport on arrival or by PLF in advance ($72 )
  • Self-isolation in area Kigali hotels is no longer required, however CAS highly recommends that itineraries include one (1) night in Kigali on arrival during this highly changeable COVID period.   It works best for planning purposes should these policies be revised again to include a quarantine night in Kigali.
  • A RT-PCR test is required 72hr prior to primate trekking/entering National Park.
  • Departure RT-PCR test still required 72hr prior to departure.
  • The US re-entry requirements may vary. CAS can assist with arranging rapid antigen testing for meeting current US re-entry requirements.
