Rickshaw Year End Bash!

Rickshaw Travels was proud to host an end-of-year celebration to thank our loyal corporate and private customers for their continuous support and for making 2012 a successful year in business.

The formal event was held at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar es Salaam on the 14th of December, with more than 100 glamorous invitees attending including, the full Rickshaw team participating in the festivities.

The glamourous occasion was framed by Christmas ferry light and dotted by mouth-watering international cuisine stations with fine wines to wash them all down. There was much merriment accompanied by a generous Santa Claus who delighted the guests with gifts and holidays won by some lucky raffle ticket holders.

Rwanda removes visa formalities - Effective January 1, 2013, nationals from African countries travelling to or transiting through Rwanda will be issued with entry visas upon arrival at any Rwandan entry point. The move to remove formalities in visa acquisition is a timely measure. It is in tandem with the spirit of the East African integration, and easing both regional and intra-Africa trade.

Uganda was listed in the top 20 global tourism destinations in the year 2013, according to the National Geographic Society. The National Geographic Best of the World list produced annually highlights the importance of some destinations compared to the other. Some of Uganda's natural attractions are its savanna grasslands, enormous lakes, rain forests, the glacier-clad Rwenzori Mountains, one of Africa's tallest ranges, Murchison Falls National Park and the rare mountain gorillas at Bwindi National Park. To top it all, Uganda has also been declared a preferred bird watching destination.

TWO WHEELS OR FOUR? - YOU DECIDE

PLANNING A TRIP

In today's high-tech world even luggage has gone high tech. 4-wheeled luggage is a common sight at airports now, but what are the real differences between 2- and 4-wheeled bags?

2-wheeler luggage
- easy to perch a second bag on top and pull
  both at the same time
- usually lighter than bags with four wheels
- won't roll away on sloped surfaces
- can topple over if overloaded

Planning a trip involves more than booking a flight and packing a suitcase. Use these helpful trip-planning tips to make sure that you've got all your bases covered when planning your next big adventure.

1. Organize Your Documents
Make sure your passport is up-to-date, with at least six months grace period from the end of your trip until your passport expires. Check the visa requirements of the countries you plan to visit - some require you to get a visa before you arrive, while other countries will issue a visitor's visa upon arrival. And don't forget to get travel insurance!

TAKING BABY ON A PLANE!

The idea of flying with a baby may seem daunting at first, but taking your little one on a trip with you can be fun and exciting, and with a little planning, may not be as troublesome as you may think. Here are some tips to help make your trip smooth sailing - for you and your baby.

1. Plan Feedings - The takeoffs and landings during airplane rides can be hard on little ears, but the sucking action of feeding helps to alleviate the pressure in baby ears. It will also keep the baby occupied during a critical time in the flight, and if you're lucky, a good feeding on takeoff, plus the ambient noise and the gentle shaking of the plane will lull the baby right to sleep.
