The Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometer. The reserve gets its name from the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous. He was killed here during World War 1. Selous is famous for elephants. Other species commonly seen are lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras and greater kudus. It was originally set aside as a hunting area where animals are abundant but more shy then the Northern Parks. Excursions by 4x4 vehicle will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park.

Day 1: Dar - Selous
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Dar es Salaam in the morning by our representative in your own private luxury transfer vehicle. After loading up your luggage and settling in, you will head on South out of Dar es Salaam and towards the Selous Game Reserve, passing through the small township of Kibiti.
The first 140 km to Kibiti are on the B2 Highway, and therefore tarmac roads. At Kibiti, you turn in towards the final 100 km towards the Selous Game Reserve on a relatively maintained dirt road.
Upon arrival at the Selous Mtemere Gate, you will disembark for a few minutes as your park entry permits are processed.
Thereafter, you will enter the Selous Game Reserve and drive a short distance towards your camp, where you will be checked in.
Enjoy a lunch at the restaurant and take in the amazing views of the Rufiji River while you are at it. Later in the afternoon, you can head on out on boat safari on the Rufiji River – or just relax at the camp as you watch the African sunset over the Selous.

Day 2: Selous Game Reserve
You can choose from multiple game drive options today. You can either go on two half day game drives through vast wilderness of the Selous with a hot lunch back at the camp, or you could choose to go on a full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes on the go.
